Anglo-Ecuadorian Society

Honourary President: HE The Ambassador of Ecuador
Chairman: Mr Richard Lavers

Welcome to the homepage of the Anglo-Ecuadorian Society!

Founded in 1977, the Society aims to promote close and friendly relations between Ecuador and the United Kingdom by:

1. Bringing to the people of Great Britain a knowledge of the history, geography and culture of Ecuador through cultural and social events such as: lectures, films, art exhibitions, etc.

2. Helping people in conditions of hardship or distress in Ecuador through charitable contributions.

3. Serving as a contact in the U.K. for anybody having an interest in, or connection with, both countries in business and tourism.

A Committee is elected at the AGM and meets regularly at the Ecuadorian Embassy to manage the Society. It co-operates with the Anglo-Latin American Foundation (ALAF) to support its fund-raising activities in aid of the Children of Latin America. From the annual subscriptions and proceeds of the events, the Society is able to provide funds for different charities in Ecuador mainly concerned with children in need. Here you can find a history of the support given to Ecuadorian charities and for the promotion of Ecuador in Britain.

The main event of the year is a Latin Fiesta held in London in the spring.

Members can attend the talks, lectures, films and reunions organised by the Society. Members can also use the facilities of Canning House, 2 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8PJ, including its extensive library.

Should you wish more information on the activities of the Society, please contact the Treasurer.

You can also download our membership form here.
